PLAYERS IN CHRISTCHURCH. The Easter golf tournament was continued at Shirley"( Christchurch) yesterday. A. R. Blank won the proving cial amateur championship with an aggregate of 300 for 72 holes of stroke play. J. T. Smith had a 316 aggregate and .AV. P. Anderson one of 530. In the provincial amateur handicap, AV. P. Anderson (6) had' a net aggregate of 306, the event being won with 281. The C stroke handicap was won with a card' of 85-15-70. Anderson’s card A-ead 79-6-73, and Smith’s 79-2-r7. The I> stroke handicap was also won with a net 70, and Smith recorded 85-2-83 and Anderson 89-6-83.
THE OTAGO CHAMPIONSHIP. DUNEDIN, April 22. The final of tfie Otago amateur golf championship, played Balmacewan links to-davi in a heavy northeast gale, resulted in a win for Dr. K. Ros 9, the other finalist, T. B. Ferguson, putting up a good fight to go down at the seventeenth green, 2 and 1, Dr. Ross, who has now won the provincial championship seven times, the first being in 1914, put up an excellent performance, showing remarkable steadiness under trying conditions.
INVERCARGILL TOURNEY. INVERCARGILL, April 22. The Southland provincial golf championships were concluded on the Invercargill Club’s course at Otatara today in fine weather. The championship was won by J. G. Nieeol (Queen’s Park, Invercargill), who defeated J. S. Dick (Invercargill) in the final over 36 holes by five and four. The Southland Plate, a new event, in which the four who were defeated in the first round of the championship, and the next four in the qualifying list, take part, was won by J. H. McDougall (Otago), who defeated H. W. Rogers (Invercargill) in the final over 18 holes by four and two. In the junior championship, F. E. Holdgate (Invercargill) beat T. Double (Queen’s Park) in ahe final over 36 holes, by one hole.
