NO WAR IN 1935.
PROPHECY BY MUSSOLINI. "SERIOUS" AFRICAN AFFAIR. (United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, April 20. Mr H'arold Pemberton, a special correspondent of the, ■< "Daily. Express,'' who was lately in Ethiopa, where he interviewed the Emperor, Haile Silassie,. describes from Rome how Signor Mussolini invited him to the Foreign Office and interviewed him, "rapping out questions with the precision of a machine-gun." Mr Pemberton told Signor Mussolini that his impression was that the Emperor of Ethiopia wanted peace and would grant all demands approved by League of Nations arbitrators. Signor Mussolini's only comment was that the situation was serious. He explained that Italy was occupying only a small area of ground. Somaliland was badly placed strategically and the presence of troops was only a precautionary! measure. Asked for his opinion about the world situation, Signor Mussolini said, "I will make only one prophecy—there will not be a war this year."
