HARVEST FESTIVALS.

THREE ASHBURTON CHURCHES. SPECIAL 'SERVICES CONDUCTED. Harvest festival services were held in three Ashburton churches yesterday, St. Stephen's Anglican Church, the Church of Christ, and the Salvation Army. All were largely attended, and an abundance of produce was received. Both the morning and evening services at St. Stephen's were conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon A. J. Petne, the choir at the evening service singing the hymn, "Great is the Lord," and Mrs E. M. Gabites a solo, "Ring Out Wild Bells." The golden offering, in connection with the festival, realised £BO, with some amounts still to be received. The produce is to be forwarded to St. Saviour's Orphanage, Christchurch.

Mr V. Lovett was the preacher at the morning service conducted at the Church of Christ, his subject being "Stewardship." An address was given to the Bible School students in the afternoon, and in the evening Pastor W. E. Vickery preached, his subject being "The Sower." Miss I. Hockings was the soloist. The church was artistically decorated for the festival. A sale of produce is to take place in the church Social Hall this evening, during which there will be competitions and musical items. The Salvation Army meetings were conducted by Major Podmorc, of Waimate. The produce is to be disposed of at a sale this evening.
