TINWALD TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING HELD, The monthly meeting of the Tinwald Town Board was held last evening, when there were present, Messrs H. B. Millichamp (chairman) W. Bryant, H. W. Carpendale and J. L. Soal. A letter was received from the Christchurch City Council, asking the Board to support its protest to the Prime Minister against legislation affecting the payment of rates on properties under the jurisdiction of the National Mortgage Corporation. It was resolved to support the City Council’s protest. It was resolved that action be taken for the recovery of all outstanding rates prior to March 31, 1934. Members stated that they had received complaints from residents regarding the continued use of the footpath along the Main South Road by cyclists, and it was resolved to prosecute offenders in future, without further warning. It was resolved to grub up and reform the surface of several roads in the district, and Mr Soal offered the use of his engine for this purpose. Mr Soal’s offer was accepted with thanks.
