HOCKEY.
ASHBURTON MEN’S CLUB. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Ashburton Men’s Hockey Club held last evening. The annual report stated that the club started the season with a credit balance of £7 4s 7d and closed the year with £7 17s 7d in hand. The club’s team met witli considerable success through the season, being the runnerup in the senior competition and in the five-a-side tournament. Several of the players gained representative honours in matclies against Christchurch, teams. Delegates to the Mid-Canterbury Men’s Hockey Sub-Association were appointed as follows: Messrs A. C. Vincent and Frank Taylor. Other officers elected were as follows: Secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Ford; committee, Messrs L. Snell, H. H. Pearce, H. Harper and W. Ford; club captain, Mr H. Peai’ce; vice-captain, Mr C. Young. It was decided to open the. season on April 6. One new player was elected.
