AGAINST BODYLINE BOWLING. INSTRUCTIONS TO UMPIRES. LONDON, March 13. The Marylebone Cricket Club has circularised the umpires detailing the new method of dealing with bodyline bowling, adding that umpires will be strongly supported by Marylebone in any action they may take, under Law 43, to prevent the practice of direct attack on a batsman who is standing clear of the wicket. Umpires are reminded that it is their duty to report forthwith to the secretary of the Marylebone Club any case, on or oft the field, of a captain or player criticising or showing resentment of an umpire’s decision. The umpire must, however, notify the captains during the match of his intention to make a report.
