A prisoner on remand —George Henry Davis, a clerk, nged 46 was found hanged in a cell at Long Bay Gaol. . Davis was taken into custody this week on a- warrant for. his arrest on a charge of having stolen £3 from the Putaruru Pine and Pulp Company (N.Z.), Ltd. . He was charged in the Police Court on Wednesday, when he was remanded till to-day. A warder, on entering ,the cell, found Davis swinging from a ventilator, having used, a necktie and towel as a rope.
