ASHBURTON TROTTING CLUB BETTING SYSTEM RETAINED. The committee of the Ashburton Trotting Club met last evening, when Mr H. F. Nicoll (chairman) presided. The ground committee reported that a second rail was being erected from the winning post up to the mile and a half start, in order to keep the public back from the course rail. The programme for the autumn meeting on April 13, was considered, and it was resolved to allot £ISOO in stakes, being an increase of £3O on last year. It was resolved that the betting system be the same as that operated at the last meeting, namely, single pool, with three dividends, 70 per cent, 20 per cent and 10 per cent. At a susequent meeting of the programme committee, the following programme was drawn up:—

HORSE DOPED BEFORE RACE. BAYNTON IN THE HURDLES. (United Press Association —Copyright* (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The report of the Government analyst received by the Victoria Racing Club, shows that Bayhton was doped before he competed in the hurdle race on Saturday. The stewards are satisfied that Baynton was not interfered with on the course.
