PIGS AND POULTRY. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Prices ruling at the weekly sales of pigs and poultry held in Ashburton to-day were as follow: Pigs—Baconers £3 ss, choppers £2 10s, stores £1 3s to £1 4s, weaners and slips 6s 6d to 14s. v Poultry—Hens Is to Is 7d, roosters 2s 7d to ss, pullets 5s 9d to 9s 3d, geese 3s to 4s. SALES OF HORSES. There were only three sales of horses at a fair held by the Ashburton branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Cooperative Association, Ltd., this afternoon. Prices were: Mare (aged) £ll, two geldings (aged) £4 ss. PROPERTY PASSED IN. On account of the Public Trustee, in the estate of the" late Mrs Sarah A. John, Mr Reg. Stephenson offered a property of half-an-acre with a fiveroomed dwelling at Allenton by public auction this afternoon. It was passed in. HAWARDEN EWE FAIR. CHRISTCHFRCH, This Day. Though many farmers were inclined to be pessimistic about it, the ewe fair at Hawarden yesterday compared very well with the excellent sale at Amberley at the beginning of the week. There was quite definitely an easing for the very best class of two-tooths, the fall being up to 2s a head, but for anything serviceable among the older ewes there was a steady demand at rates comparable wrTh those at Amberley. The values were as follows: —

Extra good two-tooth Corriedale 32s to 35s 3d, good two-tooth Corriedale 28s to 31s 6d, ordinary two-tooth Corriedale 23s to 27s 6d, extra, good 4-year Corriedale 20s 6d to 24s 6d, good 4year Corriedale 17s 6d to 20s; ordinary 4-year Corriedale 12s to 17s, extra good 5-year Corriedale 18s to 225, good 5year Corriedale 14s to 17s 6d, ordinary 5-year Corriedale 9s 6d to 13s 6d, inferior and aged Corriedale 5s to 9s, extra good two-tooth halfbreds to 295, extra good 4-year halfbred to 25s 6d, good 4-year halfbred 15s to 18s, ordinary 4-ycar halfbred 10s to 14s 6d, inferior 4-year halfbred 7s 6d to 9s 6d, extra good 5-year halfbred, 14s to 18s, good 5-year halfbred 10s to 13s, inferior and aged halfbred 5s to 10s.
