SCOUTS' RADIO SET
RECEIVING AND TRANSMITTING. LEADS THE BRITISH EMPIRE. BELIEVED FIRST IN WORLD. {Per, Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The official opening of the radio station ZC3H2, owned and operated by the North Beach Royer Scouts, t ook place last evening in the presence of Colonel Granville Walton (representing Imperial headquarters). To the North Beach troop falls the honour of being the first troop in the British Empire to own its own short-wave receiving and transmitting apparatus. It is also believed to be the first Scout-operated set in the world. The set cost £6O, which was raised by the Scouts. It works on an 80-metre band.
