FATAL EARTHQUAKE

The island of Crete experienced an earthquake which lasted two minutes, resulting in less ofi life. The cathedral', the power-house and other buildings at Candia were damaged, but the surrounding villages suffered most. SIX KILLED, SIXTY INJURED. SOME 230 HOUSES COLLAPSE. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, February 26. The Athens correspondent of '' The Times" says, that six were killed and 60 injured by the earthquake in Crete. Some 230 houses collapsed, and 560 were damaged. The Government dispatched tents and money and allotted £I9OO to erect a wing to the Candia Museum.
