HAGEN BACK TO FORM. NEW YORK, February 25. A message from Tampa, Florida, says that Walter Hagen won his first major golf event in two years with a score of 280 in the Gasparilla open tournament there. Clark was second with 281, Laffoon scored 282, McSpaden 283 and Revolta 286.

INJURED CADDIE AWARDED £2OO WAS STRUCK IN EYE BY BALL. A caddie, James Finegan, jun., employed on the Baltray links of the County Louth Golf Club, was awarded £2OO damages at Drogheda Circuit Court for injuries received when a ball hit him in the eye. Medical evidence showed that the boy's right eye looked normal, but that the eye now had only one-sixth of its normal vision. He sued the trustees of the club and one of the players, Mr Nicholas McEvoy, of Upper Abbey Street, Dublin, whose ball struck Finegan, but damages were awarded against the golf club only. The caddie said he noticed some people on the sixth tee when v he was leaving the 10th green, but he did not think there was any danger. Mr J. Daly, for whom Finegan was eaddying, said the shot which caused the injury was a very "hooked" one. He said he threw himself on the ground, and his companion golfers stooped, but the caddie was struck.

"A 'hooked' shot could be played by anybody; even Bobby Jones could do it, 5 ' he added. Mr McEvoy'-S caddie said that they all shouted "Fore," and the players on the 11th tee stooped, but the caddie did not.

Mr McEvoy said he had a handicap of 12, but his drive on this occasion Was badly "pulled." The jury found that Mr McEvoy was not negligent, but that the golf club was. Notice of appeal was given.
