COMPLAINT MADE BY FIREMENEXTRA TIME WITHOUT PAYMENT (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHTJRCH, This Day. Criticism of the Government for asking that firemen should work extra time without pay during the Duke of Gloucester's tour was voiced by bupej£ intendent Warner (Christdiurch, at the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the Fire Engineers Institute of Great Britain to-day. "It was rather shabby," said Mr Warner "The Government said "it did not have much money for the expenses iof the tour, yet it paid for a couple of dozen ha|ngers-on •to travel through New Zealand with the Duke, The poor (firemen were not paid."
