The political situation has momentarily quietened but subterranean unrest continues, Reconstruction of the Cabinet is regarded as certain although evepy effort is being made to delay it until after the King’s Jubilee. The bulk of the Conservatives insist that Mr MacDonald must be replaced. He might go to the House of Lords or retire. All enthusiasm for Mr D. Lloyd George has disappeared.
