England versus West Indies, has begun. The teams are: — England—Wyatt, Holmes, Townsend, Hendren, Hammond, Leyland, Ames, Smith, Paine, Hollies, and Iddon. W T est Indies—George Grant, Rolfe Grant, Headley, Constantine, Sealy, Hylton, Martindale, Christian, Jones, Noblett and Wish art. Rain throughout the night flooded the outfield and delayed the start until 3.45 p.m. The matting wicket was not affected. Wyatt won the toss and opened slowly, flattering Grant’s fast howling and causing the spectators to implore Wyatt “to get a move on.” But the slow bowler separated the opening pair. Smith brightened up affairs and scored the first 25 after coming in by pulls and long-handled drives. At the drawing of stumps the score was 64 for two. Details, are: — ENGLAND. First Innings.
