Rain throughout the night flooded the outfield and delayed the start until 3.45 p.m. The matting wicket was not affected. Wyatt won the toss and opened slowly, flattering Grant’s fast howling and causing the spectators to implore Wyatt “to get a move on.” But the slow bowler separated the opening pair.
