INJURED BY A FISH.
BATHER’9 THIGH RIPPED OPEN. A DEEP WOUND INFLICTED. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. D’Arcy Lorenz, aged 20, a lifesaver at Austinner, had his left thigh ripped open by a shark or big fish as he shot a breaker to the beach. Despite the pain of the wound, which is eight inches long and three inches deep, Lorenz managed to walk up the beach. He then collapsed. He wag sent to the hospital, where lie was operated on. It is believed that Lorenz was brushed by the fin of a shark, but it is suggested that a swordfish may have been responsible.
