WALKING THE WORLD
WANGANUI MAN'S RETURN. COMPANION FROM RAKAIA. (Special to the "Guardian.") WANGANUI, Jan. 1. After a walking tour over the greater part of the globe, Mr H. Coulston, of Castlecliff, has returned to Wanganui on a visit to his mother. He set out four years ago with a young man named H. Dunsford, qf Rakaia. They shipped on a sailing vessel, the Grace Harwar, and reached Australia. There Mr Dunsford gave the trip best, and signed off. Mr Coulston went on alone, his first trip being from Perth to Adelaide. Then he went through Hawaii, Honolulu, across America, and into England. While there he lectured at various schools, to some Rotary Clubs and Toe H gatherings, using a number of slides lent him by the New Zealand Government. While on the Isle of Man he succeeded in lowering the record for the 80-mile walk from 17 £ hours to 15. Mr Coulston also visited the Continent of Europe, spending some clays in Moscow, Holland, Italy and Austria.
It is lii9 intention to remain in Wanganui three weeks and set out round the world again. He is considering the purchase of a ketch at Auckland.
