BRIDEGROOM MISSING.
A WEDDING POSTPONED. A TARANAKI SENSATION. (Per Press Association). STRATFORD, January 3. There is still no trace of Stanley Thomas Newland, aged 22, who disappeared yesterday from Midhurst, while guests were waiting at the Stiatfoic Presbyterian Church for his wedding. The ceremony was timed to take place at 11 o'clock, but an hour before that he could not be found, and a ear was found abandoned on the Beaconsfield road. After breakfast Newland drove to Midhirst, where he remained an hour, but after leaving the village all tiace of him was lost. The police were informed, and a thorough search was made, without, result. Several guests, meanwhile, had airived at the church, but the bride had not left her home. The minister, the Rev. J. McGregor, on learning that the bridegroom was missing, telephoned to her suggesting that the wedding be delayed an hour. Later the guests went home. Newland is clean shaven, with blue eyes and brown hair, and is about sft lOin in height. He is of medium build. A relative of the missing man says it is possible that he may have left the province.
