ANGORA WOOL.
DIFFICULTIES IN SPINNING. ACHIEVEMENT WITH HAND WHEEL. When an inquiry from an interested resident of the northern end of his constituency wrote inquiring regarding the spinning of Angora wool, Mr T. pBurnett,- M.P.,. passed on the inquiry to the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. R. Masters), who has sent a very interesting reply to Mr Burnett. The reply states: " It is reported that no woollen mills in the Dominion have looms that are capable of spinning Angora rabbit wool, as their machinery is designed to deal with sheep's wool, the counts of which run from 36's to 65's. It is said that Angora rabbit wool runs from 150's to 200's, and is much too fine for any ot our existing looms to work. The same conditions would appear to apply to the hand spinning wheels, which are also made to deal with sheep's wool. "A firm in Christchureh is closely studying this matter, and hopes to solve the problems of adapting hand spinning wheels to take Angora rabbitwool. I enclose five samples, which show what they have achieved with the hand wheel just recently. I understand that they ar e continuing their efforts toward further improvement.' Mr Burnett has sent the five samples to the "Guardian' office, where they may be inspected by interested persons.
