FREE MILK.
SCHEME FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN ' ("Per Pi;ess Association). WETiLINGTON, [November 20. A. step toward Mr Bernard Shaw's ideal of free milk for all school children throughout New Zealand was taken to-night at a meeting convened by the "Smith Family" organisation. Representatives'of educational institutions, medical men, the Hospital Board the City Council and members of Parliament were present. ,A committee was set up to formulate a definite plan on a national basis. Mr W. J. Poison, M.P., presided and was appointed chairman of the committee. The principal points considered were whether the scheme should be a Smto administered and financed) plan, entirely free to every child attending all schools or whether parents able to do so should" contribute, while milk was provided! without cost to children of the poorer people.
