MILKING SHORTHORNS
MEETING OF THE SOCIETY. (Special to the " Guardian.") CHPJSTCHURCH, This Day. The Canterbury branch of the NewZealand Milking Shorthorn Society held its half-annual meeting yesterday, Mr C. Bowis presiding. * The judge of the show classes, Mr N. J. Ward, of Canvastown, Marlborough, remarked on the high quality of the stock and the size of the classes. He thought the section was better than last year, and said it was only a matter of time before it would be the best in New Zealand. it was agreed to ask the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association to° accept a challenge cup valued at £lO 10s for the best yearling milking shorthorn bull, senior or junior. A condition attached to the offer, set out that the exhibitor winning the cup the most times in 10 years should be allowed to keep it. ~ , j.i The president drew attention to the advisability of classifying stock for type and production. This was considered verv necessary and. it was agreed to consider it at the annual meeting as a remit for conference.
