LOVELOCK BEATS BONTHRUN. \ .AUSTRALIANS AT AMSTERDAM. (Received This Dav, 12.35 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, August 12.. At an international athletic meeting J. E. Lovelock (New Zealand) defeated Bonthron (U.S.A.) in the 1500 metres race by four-fifths of a second. Comes (England) was third. The time was 3in ms 53 3-10 secs. In the high jump Johnston (United States) sft Sin won, beating Metcalfe (Australia) sft 3in. The hop, step and jump was won by Metcalfe 48ft 9£in. The pole vault was won by Woodhouse (Australia) 12ft 9^in.
