AUSTRALIAN'S GOOD JUMP. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON., August 6. The Empire Games were continued at White, City to-day. A holiday attendance of thirty thousand witnessed the second day's games, the weather heing overcast. J. E. Lovelock (New Zealand) is among those who qualified for the final of the mile to-morrow. Others are Barnes (England), Reeve, England), Wooderson (England), Wade (Caliada), Lovelock ran third in his heat, heing content to qualify in slow time. Crump's failure to steer a true course up the lane cost him first place in the third heat of the hundred yards. Even then the finish was so close that it seemed a dead heat, but Larsen was given the verdict by two-fifths of d. second.

In the women's two hundred yards breaststroke, although Miss Dennis outclassed the field without" being extended she reduced Mifcs Hastein's English record by one and three-fifths seconds. (•.!.'•..• Ryan brilliantly turned the tables on Pirie, swimming 20 seconds faster than in his heat. The Australian staved off Pirie's determined challenge at the end, without unduly hurrying his beautiful long stroke. In the 220 yards, Yates' (Australia) won his heat in 22 2-ssec r Dempsey (Australia) was second in his heat to Murdoch, whose time was 22 4-ssec. Horsfall (Australia) failed to qualify in his heat, which was won by Theunissen in 22Jsec. In the/Empire Games bowling, in the rinks Australia drew with Rhodesia 18-18. Australia was seven down at the first five ends, but thereafter drew up to 7-9 and then led 12-10 at the fifteenth end.
