SPORTS ABANDONED.

ALL FIXTURES OFF. Steady rain in Ashburton to-day necessitated the postponement of all sports fixtures arranged for this afternoon. Matches set down for to-day in the Ashburton Rugby Union’s competitions will be played next Saturday, and the draw" wall be put forward one week. Women’s hockey matches drawn for to-day will be played later in the season, while to-day’s basketball matches will be fitted hi where possible during the next few weeks. The second 1 round of the men’s hockey senior competition will he put forward one week. The hunt, which was to have been held to-day bv the Ashburton branch of the 'Christchurch H unt Club, pjay bo held later in the week. Conditions were also “too wet for the Ashburton Golf Club’s bogey match.
