GAME LICENSES.

RECIPROCAL ENDORSEMENTS. ACCLIMATISATION WORK. A meeting of the council of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society was held on Monday evening, Mr A. O. Pilbrow presiding. The North Canterbury Society wrote asking for permission to liberate some Californian quail in the Ashburton district, and it was agreed to grant the request. The South Canterbury Society suggested that the Ashburtom Society should enter into an agreement for the reciprocal endorsement of game licenses in order that they might be used on either side of the Rangitata river. It was resolved to write .informing the South Canterbury Society that suggestion would be adopted. It was also decided to write to the North Canterbury Society, suggesting a similar arrangement in connection with the llakaia river. The chairman reported that the hatchery committee was negotiating with, the Ashburton Golf Club for a new site for the hatchery, and he was hopeful that the matter could be satisfactorily arranged. It was reported that Messrs Tuckers Limited, had donated a casting reel to the Society and it was resolved to acknowledge the donation. The ranger's report for the month was received.
