further rain. ANOTHER WET WEEK-END. Still another week-end that was not without some rain was experienced in Ashburton. Conditions on Satuiday were mainly dull and about / o clock a thick drizzle set in, continuing until yesterday morning. One or two heavy showers were experienced during the night and for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday 37 points were registered at the Domain weather station. Overcast conditions prevailed again yesterday and rain fell at intervals, a cold wind from the south-east keeping the temperature low. Misty rain fell overnight and at intervals to-day, when the sky remained overcast. Ihe wind blew from the north-east, the sun almost broke through the clouds after mid-day but the sky became heavily clouded over again soon after. -Another four points of rain were recorded this morning, making 41 points over the week-encl. At linwalu, Mr W. S. Strange registered 45 points up to yesterday morning and a further 4 points up to this morning. The barometric "ressure at 9 ami. .today was 30.18 inches, .compared with 30.2 inches yesterday morning. Extremes of shade temperature yesterday and last night were 55.3 degrees and '48.1 degrees, while those on Saturday were 64.5 degrees and 46.4 degrees.

The Government Meteorologist,, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General Inference: An intense anticyclone is now centred between the South Island and Chatham Island, while pressure has fallen to the north and west. . - The forecast fot' the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to strong, east to north, winds, weather mainly fine inland, cloudy to overcast on the coast., with light rain in places but gradually improving. Temperatures will be cool, the seas rough north of Kaikoura, but elsewhere moderate.
