TRADE WITH FRANCE.
AUSTRALIAN GOODS RESTRICTED NO EARLY MODIFICATION. ' \ • (United Press Association—Copyright.)
(Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, January 24. Mr S. M. Bruce’s inquiries into the French restrictions announced last week, which included a consultation with the commerical department of the British Embassy at Paris while he was returning from Geneva, indicate that there is no present prospect of a modification. The firmness of the French attitude is based largely on an unfavourable balance of trade with Australia.
