TRAIN ROBBERS FAIL.
TWO ARMED MEN TAKE PART.; CASH BOX CHAINED TO VAN. (United Press Association— Copyright;. (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. An attempt by two men to rob the mail train from Newcastle to Sydney early this morning failed. The men, who were masked, one being armed with a revolver and the other with a piece of loaded hose; boarded the train to Broadmeadow station. Their object was to seize the cash-bos in the guard's van and detrain at Adamstown, which is a conditional stopping place. They compelled the guard to lie on the floor, where he was bound. The box defied their attempt, owing to it being chained to the van. When the train reached Adamstown and slowed down the men jumped off and disappeared, bootless. The guard was not injured. .
