FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the "Guardian," Oct, 24, 1883). The Blue Ribbon Movement.—A, very successful meeting was held in the schoolroom, Chertsey, on Friday evening last, Dy several members of the Asnburton branch of the Blue Ribbon Army. After addresses had been given by Messrs T. E. Kilworth, Scott, G. W. Andrews, and Gavin, explaining to. those present the objects..of the Blue Ribbon Army, and forcibly illustrating the evils and misery caused by drunkenness, all present were invited to join* the movement, and about 20 donned the blue ribbon, being 80 per cent, of the number present. Mr Todd acted, as chairman of the meeting, which concluded with votes of thanks to the gentlemen who had addressed the meeting and the chairman.
