Mr A. Brown was last evening welcomed when he took his seat on the Ashburton Technical School Board of Managers as a -representative of the Canterbury Education Board.

Mr A. Leslie (Temuka) has been appointed postmaster at Lower Hutt, in succession to Mr A. N. Wallace, who has been appointed to be postmaster at Blenheim (says a Press Association telegram).

If circumstances permit, Mr J. Connelly, M.P., will arrive in Ashburton by aeroplane to-morrow morning, to be present at the Girl Guide and"" Boy Scout rally in the afternoon.

Mr Norman E. Johnson, Who has been a representative of the Australian Mutual. Provident Society in Ashburton for about four years, has been transferred on promotion to Auckland arid will leave for the north at the end of .the month. Mr Angus MacDonald has been appointed to succeed Mr Johnson in Ashburton.

Stating that since he left Ashburton on sick leave some little time ago his health had continued to be unsatisfactory, Mr iD. S. Mackenzie wrote to the Ashburton Technical School Board last evening resigning his position as agricultural instructor. The resignation was accepted with regret and it was agreed to forward to Mr Mackenzie a letter expressing the Board's appreciation of his services during the three years he was a member of the staff.
