BRIDGE TO BE BUILT.

BLACK MILLER CREEK. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 15. Tenders are to be called in the near future for the construction of a bridge over the Black Miller Creek, which lies between the Hapuka and Clarence Rivers. At the present time the creek is spanned* by a temporary bridge which is somewhat dangerous to traffic, and it is proposed to replace the structure with a span of thirty feet. The work will bo carried out in reinforced concrete. Tenders are also to be invited for the construction of a bridge to replace the girder bridge on the road between Kaiapoi and Rangiora. The existing bridgo is 300 ft long, but owing to ,the Ayr River having been diverted into the Waimakarirf River, a 40ft span will suffice for the new structure. It is hoped to have the tenders for the carrying out of this work, within a week or two.

The question as to whether the existing railway bridge over the north branch of the Rangitata River should be used for road purposes when the new railway bridge is constructed will probably receive the consideration of the Main Highways Board at its meeting on September 20. '
