SPRING BLOOMS.

MANY 3EAUTIFUL SPECIMENS.

WOMEN'S DIVISION FLOWER. SHOW.

There were many beautiful blooms on exhibition at the C.A.A. rooms this afternoon, when the Ashburfon branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held its first flower show. The function was very successful and it is hoped that a similar exhibition will be promoted each year. The outstanding exhibit was a vase of daffodils entered by Mrs Horsey. A large number of blooms from Sir R. Heaton Rhodes' estate, "Otaihuna," attracted a good deal of attention. The judging was carried out by Mrs R. Holland. During the afternoon, trophies were presented to the exhibitors gaining most points. This ceremony was performed by the Mayoress (Mrs W. H. Woods) who congratulated the winners. They were Mrs G. Scales 55 points, Mrs A. W. Penney 32 points, Mrs L. J. Strange 14 points.
