BAND CONTEST.

DISPUTE OVER FINANCE. (Per Press Association;. PALMERSTON NORTH, Sept. 13. Negotiations with the local committee and the New Zealand Brass Bands Association for conducting the next Dominion- contest here in February have resulted in a hitch over tho distribution of the profits. The local committee decided last evening that unless its decision regarding the distribution is accepted it will not conduct the contest. The association intimated that the first charge on the profits should bo £SO for the association as the contest fee, plus a further 10 ptT cent, of all profits. Various other minor recommendations were received. After discussion it was decided to offer the association 10 per cent, of the profits., with a maximum of £SO, or no contest.
