CHARGE DISMISSED.

ADVISED TO LEAVE CITY. ("Special to the " Guardian.'') CHRISTCHURCH, September 12. "You would be well advised to get out of town. Otherwise you will only get into trouble." This was the advice given to Eric Carney llobsou. a wool sorter, of Ashburton, aged 28, by J\lr E. D, Mosley, S.M., this morning, in dismissing a charge against him of being deemed to be a rogue and a vagabond in that he was found by night in possession of house breaking implements, h tyre lever and screwdriver. Chief-Detective Dunlop stated that •accused was seen by Constable M. 11. Stewart at 11.20 on September 1. There was something bulky under his coat and he tried to keep as far away as possible. On the way to the police station the constable heard something fall and on going back found the tyre lever. When accused was searched a screwdriver and sack were found in his possession also. Robson was under' the influence of liquor. Robson, in explaining the circumstances, said that the tools were used by him for rabbiting. He had arrived from Ashburton that day' and in the hurry of travelling had picked them up at the last moment and put thorn m his pocket. The bag ho hod used to carry "square riggers." He had had a thirst and met some friends. Ho was ashamed to go home when ho got drunk as his'people were all prohibitionists. As a matter of habit he rolled tho sack up after he was finished with it and put it in his pocket.
