ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET. PRICES ABOUT ON A PAR. A GOOD IjINTRY TO-DAY. Prices generally at the weekly stock market at the Ashburton saleyards today remained about the same as those ruling last week. The entry penned was a good one and the quality was a little better than that of last week’s entry. The sale eased a little toward the end, when interest in the sheep offered lagged somewhat. Top price for fat ewes was 2Gs Id, Cochrane Bros. (Elgin) disposing of seven at this figure. Mr R. Frisky (Hinds) sold five at 24s Id and six at 23s lOd, Airs E. M. Begg (Wakanui) disposed of four at 23s lOd, while Mr W r . G. Marshall (Ashburton) and Cochrane Bros, sold lines of eight and two respectively at 23s 7d. Cochrane Bros., Mr Frisby and a further client all m ado sales at 23s 4d. Fat wethers reached 28s Id, six auctioned on behalf of a client bringing this sum. Other good sales on account of clients were made at 27s lOd. 27s 4d, and 26s lOd, while a line of 21 was passed at 26s 3d. Tlie first fat lamb for the season was entered by Mr I. S. Aicken (Methven) and brought 20s 3d. Miss Hoatten (Elgin) topped the market for fat hoggets with two at 17s Id. Airs C. Page (Seaview) sold five at 16s Id. and Air G. S. Kennedy made 16s 4d for two.
