HAZY CONDITIONS TO-DAY. ' A thick fog hung over parts of Ashburton at intervals during the nig t and shortly before five o'clock, this morning the town tvas enveloped the blanket not lifting until about J o'clock. Conditions to-day were hazy, the sun only shining weakly throng the light misty clouds which covered the sky. A fresh north-easterly wind prevailed. i„i, w v The barometric pressure at 9 o clock this morning was 30.16. inches, compared with 30.19 mches yesterday morning. Extremes of shade temperature yesterday and last night were 54.0 degrees and 31.6 degrees, according to the registrations at the Domain weather station, while the figures for the previous 24 hours were 50.5 degrees and 31.1 degrees. Five degrees of frost were experienced this morning and one point ot rain was recorded for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. to-day. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. {Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government- Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued .the fallowing statement regarding the weather:— General inference: The anti-cyclone mentioned yesterday still covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but has decreased somewhat in intensity, the barometers having fallen about a tenth of an inch. The highest pressure is over the South Island. A depression has reached Eastern AustraThe forecast for the east coast of the South Island from * Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light, variable winds with northerlies prevailing. Weather fine and milder but cold night temperatures, boas smooth.
