MAJESTIC THEATRE. Clark Grable will be seen finally tonight at the Majestic Theatre in the leading role of "No Man of Her Own," a new Paramount drama in which the popular star is supported by two leading women, Carole Lombard and Dorothy Mackaill. Gable has the role of Babe Stewart, a suave card-sharp and devil with women. Because he tries to desert her, Dorothy Mackaill, his decoy for his card games, threatens to turn him over to the police, and he is forced to leave town until events cool off. In a small country town, he meets Carole Lombard and marries her on a bet. To the girl, however, the marriage is the real thing, and before he knows it, the hjird-boiled gambler is beginning, to fall m love. There is* however, his former sweetheart, Dorothy, to be taken care of when the newlyweds get back to New York. GOLF CLUB BALL. The annual ball of the Ashburton Golf Club will bo held in His Majesty's Theatre on Friday.night. A large attendance is expected, including parties from Timaru and Christchurch. A big attraction will be the music by ..the Bailey-Marston Band from the Winter Garden, Christchurch, while an interesting item will be a mannequin parade of beach pyjamas and fashions supplied by the D. 1.0. Well-known local girls will take part in the parade and the stage will be-suitably decorated. Miss G. Bushell's pupils will give an exhibition of a Russian ballet and Miss Bushel! and Mr Wilson will give a tap dance. The gallery will be open to the public at a charge of Is and seats may be reserved and tickets for the dance obtained at Mr A. CI Wilson's music shop. The parade will commence at 9.45 p.m. and Miss Bushell's pupils will dance at 9.15 p.m. Supper will be served in the Tancred Street Hall.
