OBITUARY.
MR JOHN GLUYAS. The death occurred at his residence, Grigs Street, Ashburton, yesterday afternoon, of- Mr John Gluyas, another of the early residents of Ashburton County. nu Mr Gluyas was born at Helston, Cornwall, and came to New Zealand m 1901 Ho replaced his brother, Mi William Gluyas, as saddler on Mr John Grieg’s estate at Longbeach, where ne worked until lie came into Ashburton to live about four years ago. His brother had been saddler on the estate since 1887. Mr Gluyas was a member of tne Longbeach Anglican Church for many years and took a great interest m church activities in that district. He was also interested in bands and a keen supporter of the Ashburton Salvation Army Band and the Ashburton Silver Band. Mr Gluyas was also a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters. _ He led a quiet life upon Ins retirement to Ashburton and spent much of Ins time in his garden. He was a memher of Court Ashburton A.O.F. and of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. Mr Gluyas is survived by his wife four daughters and three sons.
