LOTTERY AND LAWSUIT
CONSTABLE’S LUCKY TICKET. SERGEANT CLAIMS HALF-SHARE. In the Supremo Court in Brisbane lately an action was heard in which Police-Sergeant Alfred Bee, claimed a one-half interest in a ticket in the Golden Casket which drew the first prize of £6OOO in February. The ticket was held by Constable John Rinaldi. Plaintiff claimed that he was at all material times the owner equally with defendant of the winning ticket, and that he was entitled to share equally with defendant in the first prize. Defendant denied that i was agreed between plaintiff and defendant that fie should purchase a ticket in Casket No. 337 for the benefit of plaintiff and himself and claimed that; the ticket was purchased with his own money and on his own behalf, and for bis own benefit.
Stating that it was a question of oath against oath, and that documents supported defendant’s oath and not that of Bee Mr Justice Macrossan gave judgment for defendant. Costs of 25 guineas were awarded against plaintiff.
