AMERICAN WOMEN’S TOURNEY NEW YORK, August 9. In the quarter-final of the Eastern tennis tournament at Rye, Miss Josephine CYuickshank (United States) de-
feated Miss Joan Ridley (England) 6-0. 0-2. Miss Dorothy Round and Miss Mary Heeley, both of England, entered the semi-finals. Miss Round beat Miss Freda James (England), 6-4, 4-0, 6-4, and Miss Heeley beat Miss Elizabeth Deike (Los Angeles), 6-1, 6-3.
