RUMOURED CRASH
i COLONEL C. A. LINDBERGH. BREAKDOWN IN WIRELESS. CAUSES FEARS FOR SAFETY. (United Press Association—Copyright). (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, August 10. It is rumoured that Colonel C. A. Lindbergh crashed in Greenland and sustained fatal injuries. Efforts to ascertain the facts are handicapped by a breakdown of the wireless system. Re-establish-ment of communication with Greenland is not expected for several hours. Colonel Lindbergh should have flown the dangerous stage from Julianshaab to Anmagsalik to-day. A wireless message picked up in Denmark shortly after he was due to start announced that lie had crashed and was killed. The source of the message is not known, but it is believed to be a Greenland station. NO TRUTH IN THE REPORT. > AWAITING BETTER WEATHER. (Received This Day, 1.35 p.m.) LONDON, August 11. Colonel Lindbergh is safe at Julianehaab (Greenland), where, according to V, message received at Copenhagen, he is awaiting better weather before resuming his flight with Mrs Lindbergh. THE CRASH AT HONOLULU. HONOLULU, August 9 A twin-motored, navy seaplane crashed on its back, one mile off shore after the tail surfaces had beftn stripped away. The crew of five weio killed. They were Lieutenant Charles Hill (pilot), and Lieutenant T. C. Marshall, and three enlisted men.
