PERSONAL.
The Minister*for Lands (the Hon. ft. A Ransom) who will make a tour of the South Island next week, will arrive in Ashburton from Fairlie at 4 o clock next Friday, when he will consult with local bodies. In the evening he will meet fhe Crown Tenants' Association and later proceed to Christchurch. .
Mr P. K. Ireland (chairman of the Oamaru Harbour Board) was a passenger for Oamaru on the south-bound express train this morning.
Mr H. W. Rogers Vchnirman of the Canterbury Hockey Association) visited Ashburton' to-day to witness the Ashburton v. Geraldine men's representative hockey match this afternoon.
Mr W. A. lovns (chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board) will leave London on Wednesday, August 16, via America, catching the Makura at Vancouver on September 1 (savs a Press Association telegram).
M. Paul Vincgradoff, the Russian pianist, arrived in Ashburton by the express train this morning. Shortly after his arrival ha visited t!iC Convent and was the guest of the Cavendish Club at a function this afternoon. He will give a recital in. St Andrew's Hall this evening.
