MARRIAGE OF YOUNG GIRLS (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, August 4. Concern at the fact that within two years 24 15-year-old girls and two girls 14 years of' age had been married in New Zealand was expressed at a meeting of the Wellington branch of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children. The meeting was specially called to discuss the subject. A motion was carried urging that the marriage age for both boys and girls should be raised to 16 years. It was stated that it was desirable to limit the age of marriage and .the age of consent should be the same as was the case in England. It was also stated that girls less than 16 vears of age were not physically or j mentally fit to bear and nature children.
