PERSONAL.
Mr AV. G, Gallagher, who has been on vacation at Diamond Harbour, with Mrs Gallagher, returned to Ashburton yesterday.
Mr R. King commenced duty at the Ashburton Borough School to-day as a temporary assistant. He is a 'Canterbury Rugby representative player.
Mr W. G. Brunton, who has been appointed,. railway stationuiaster at Tinwald, left Greymouth on Tuesday for his new location. Before leaving, he was presented by the staff of the railways with a dinner set.
Prior to his departure for Christchurch, Piper R. E. Fisher, of the Ashburton County Pipe Band, was met by members of the hand and presented with a small gift by Pipe-Major D. Wilson on their behalf. In making the presentation,JMpe-Major Wilson referred to the keen interest- Piper Fisher had taken in the band and his remarks were endorsed by .Pipers J. Drummond and G. Solway and Drummer H. Weir.
