HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated June 17, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow—Quiet demand at auction. Of 1015 casks oll'ered 351 sold. Present quotations are: Mutton, line 24s to '24s (itl, fair to good 2Us to 23s 6d, dark to. dull 18s 6d to 19s 3d; beef, sweet and/or mixed 24s to 23s 6d, failto good .19s 6d to 2©s'9d, dark to dull i7s 6d to. 19s ; mixed, fair to good 19s b'd to 20s (id, dark to dull 17s 6d to lite. Cut, etc.: I6s Gd to 19s. Fruit—Apples: Fruit per Mahana, Port Fremautle and Otaio discharging m good condition. Market is weaker. Sales for week include 30,001) cases of Stunners, principally largo sizes, to Continent, which sold at 9s Gd to 10s (id. Prices for other varieties of which limited sales ex various ships were: Cranny Smith 13s, Statesman 9s #d to 10s 3d, Jonathan, Delicious, Dunn's and Rome Beauty 9s Gd. Pears: Winter Cole 9s Gd, P. Barry 9s, Winter Nelis Ss, Keiffer 6s; three-quarters, Winter Nelis 6s 9d.

CLEARING SALE AT LAGMHOR. Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., conducted a clearing sale of the live and dead stock of Mr C. Lusk, of Lagmhor, yesterday. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the bidding was quite spirited. Prices realised were as follow: Sheep—9o 6 and 8-tooth s.V ewes at 13s 4d.

Cows—£6, £4 2s 6d, £3 ss, 2 at £2 10s, 3 at £2, 2 yearing heifers at 17s 6d. ' j Horses—Chestnut mare £l3 10s, bay gelding £3, others £24, £22, £lB.

BRISBANE WOOL SALES. BRISBANE, June 19. The wool sales opened under strong general competition. Prices were fully 5 per cent, higher than Sydney closing rates.
