MELBOURNE, June 19. The Victoria Racing Club stewards disqualified -for two years Win'. Markley, owner and trainer, for dishonourable conduct in connection with the running of the racehorse Spherical in the Rothsay Trial Stakes at Flemington on. June 3. Evidence was given that a drug was administered by somebody to Spherical. M. Bourke, part-owner of Spherical, was fined £2s' for gent supervision of the horse.
cheap Steeplechasers.
GREAT NORTHERN WINNERS. t Some cheap horses have won the Great Northern Steeplechase. Despised was bought for £6O; Lavanter (a dual winner) tor £SO; and Hautere for £ll2 10s. El Gallo, who won the Hurdles and Steeplechase double twice, was comparatively dear at £2OO and a contingency of £IOO. Gluepot was sold for £lB, and Sea De'il for £lO, but Sir Roseberry, who won the big 'chase twice, fetched £2OO. Beau Cavalier cost £SB, Master Lu £35, Kaitere £ls, and Sol £SO. All -these sales were made before the horses won the big race.
