THE IRISH PROBLEM.
GENERAL SMUTS INTERVENES. (United Press Association—Copyright). LONDON, June 16. The political correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" says that General Smuts is interesting himself in the Anglo-Irish dispute, and is interviewing the Free State and British leaders with a view to the resumption of formal conversations, but it is doubtful whether Mr de Valera is prepared to engage in negotiations at present.
