ATTEMPT TO BLOW OPEN SAFE.

PALMERSTON NORTH, June 16

On entering his premises this morning, the head of a leading business firm found that an attempt had been made to blow open a safe, which, however, resisted the efforts of the intruders. The lock was badly damaged. Curtains had been torn down and used to deaden the sound of the explosion. The office drawer had been searched and small change taken. _ Earlv in the week the Terrace End Schoof was broken into, but nothing was taken. Last night the College Street School was unlawfully entered and five shillings stolen.
