DECLARATION OF DIVIDEND

(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day

In a statement on the balance-sheet and profit and loss account of the Bank of New Zealand, the directors say: The profits amounted to £615,4.69 9s 7d.; from this has to be deducted interest on guaranteed‘stock £21,199 8s lid, leaving a balance of profit for the year of £594,270 0s Bd, to which has to be added £395,056 5s 9d, the balance brought forward from last year, making £989,326 6s sd, from which has been paid a dividend on preference A shares £50,000, interim dividend on C long-term mortgage shares £7031 ss, interim dividend on I) longterm mortgage shares £17,578 2s 6d, interim dividend on preference B shares £39,062 10s, interim dividend on ordinary shares £234,375, total, £348,060 17s 6d, leaving available for distribution £641,279 8s lid. This the directors propose should be disposed of as follows: Dividend on C 'long-term mortgage shares, 6 per cent, per annum, £7031 ss.

Dividend on D long-term mortgage shares at 71 per cent, per annum, £17.578 2s Gel.

Dividend on preference B shares, making £123,437 10s for the year, £84,375. Dividend at the rate of" 5 per cent, on ordinary shares, making £421,875 for the year, equal to ll£ per cent., £187,500; leaving a balance to be carried forward of £344,795 Is sd.

In wheat cargoes trading is more active and prices are maintained. Parcels are unchanged, trading being small. Futures are quoted as follows: — London—June, 21s 11 id per quarter ; September, 2s 41 d • December, 23s Id. Liverpool—July, 5s l|d per cental; October, 4s 3|cl; December, 5s s|d. Spot trade is quiet. Australian, ex ship, 26s 9d to 275. 1

Flour is dull, Australian, ex store, 20s, 20s 6d. Oats are easier and neglected. Peas and beans are qpiet.

PIGS AND POULTRY.

THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Tke ( following prices were realised at the weekly sales of pigs and poultry conducted in Ashburton this afternoon : . Pigs—Baconers 28. s 6d to 50s, porkers 24s 6d stores 8s to 25s Gd, weaners and slips 3s Cd to 10s 6d. Poultry—Hens Is to 2s 4d, roosters 3s 4d to 4s 7d, ducks 2s lOd to 4s Gd.
