PLUCKY ACTION BY NURSES (Per Press Association). GREYMOUTH, June 15., Making good his escape from the Greymouth Hospital on Monday, a mental inmate headed for the lagoon at the rear of the hospital and plunged into the water, evidently intending to commit suicide by drowning. He would have achieved his object but for the courageous action of Sister A. M. Becker and Nurse G. B. O’Connor, who followed him immediately and with difficulty rescued the man. Drs. Bird and Bennett, the honorary medical officers, reported, their action to the board, expressing appreciation of the plucky act which was the subject. of a laudatory resolution at the hoard’s meeting this evening.
